In Punta Arenas you are in a truly historic place. Epochs of great adventures, booming trade and terrible tragedies characterize this city as much as the fresh wind that sweeps through its streets. This is where the American continent ends. And that is how it feels. Punta Arenas is the starting and ending point of your three-day expedition along the Strait of Magellan. By ship, you steer to Carlos III Island on the edge of the Francisco Coloane Marine Park. In complete seclusion, you are stationed in simple dome tents of the sustainably designed Eco-Camp. On your excursions, you listen to the sound of the humpback whales and marvel at their elegant movements. The sight of these gigantic specimens and the power of the mammals, the pressurized expulsion of water through their blowholes and the devotional beats of their fins are overwhelming. You visit a huge glacier field, observe penguins and sea lions. And you experience an authentic as well as science-based impression of the life of the whales and this virgin nature.
