Overview

The southern Chile is nicknamed Chilean Switzerland due to its mountainous nature and European immigration history. However, with its endemic vegetation, indigenous roots and concentration of volcanoes, the beauty of the area around Pucón is very unique. You get drawn into this rustic artwork of clear waters, volcanic cones cloaked in snow and opulent forests. Furthermore, the Araucanía region is one of the few places in the country where indigenous culture is still actively practiced. Hike through the enchanting Huerquehue National Park. On an ascent of the active Villarrica Volcano, you experience firsthand one of the country's most imposing spectacles. On your way over rocks and ice surfaces, wonderful views of the mountainous lake landscape of the region open up. The hike is sporty. But once you reach the peak, all the effort fades. You breathlessly marvel at the spectacle in front of you, while smoke rises from the crater and sometimes even bubbling lava flashes. And for relaxation, enjoy a soak in the natural hot springs of the Termas Geométricas.
